How can I make Windows XP appear in grayscale?

How can I make Windows XP appear in grayscale?

My monitor will NOT do it itself. Is there a Windows setting I can change? I've lowered the screen brightness to its lowest level and it's still giving me headaches after long days at work.

Does Windows have built-in grayscale settings? How can I make Windows XP appear in grayscale?
Hi there. You can try going into the appearance settings by right clicking on your desktop and just change all the colors to gray's/blacks. But I don't think you can change every single thing that way, but maybe it will help. If your having headaches when your screen isn't bright, have you considered the fact that you may need glasses? (If you don't have them prescribed already). I've heard that people whom get headaches from text/print, often just need glasses to solve their problem. Let me know if I helped any, and good luck. How can I make Windows XP appear in grayscale?

Have you tried adjusting the refresh rate of your monitor? The most common cause of headaches due to monitors is the refresh rate.

Right-click on the desktop and then Properties -%26gt; Settings -%26gt; Advanced... (button near bottom) --%26gt; Monitor

Adjust the refresh rate up to 75MHz or higher. This will get rid of any flicker you may notice, especially due to fluorescent lighting.

And to answer your question, I do not believe there is an option for you to get your entier system gray-scale.How can I make Windows XP appear in grayscale?
hi there is a special screen that you put over the computer that i think is made for this but there is nothing you can do as in to stop your headaches you can reduce them but not stop them completly try adjusting sharpness level and all and refresh rate or stay farther from the screen when you can that all i could think of i dont know for sure if it will work because ive never been on the computer that long and i take brake every couple of hours for a couple of minutes like a drink of water which never hurts and if you fell that you cant deal with this no more and there is no solution mabe consider seeing a eye doctor mabe the doctor can give you more individual advice what to do good luck and when you go computer shopping make sure you pay very close to the type of screen you buy and consider the different types out there but before you go spend money try the small stuff first
